Journeys End

Today I lost one of my best friends. I have two dogs, Opie, a lovable
Lab mix and Floyd, my German Shepard, who had a personality of a
human. He was the entertainer in the family.   About a week ago Floyd
started to act listless and had a decrease  in his appetite.  Little did I
know what was to follow.

Yesterday we took him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with
Spleen and Liver Cancer.  It was only a matter of time.

Today at 8:45 AM we took him to the vet where he died in my arms,
peacefully and with dignity.  He was only 7 years old.

A fine dog who left me all to soon.

R.I.P. Floyd, you will never be forgotten.

And A New Beginning....

Ever since I got my two dogs eight years ago, my wife has been
yapping ( no pun intended ) about getting a small "Kitchen
Sink" dog for herself.....Kitchen Sink dog being one that she
can put in the kitchen sink to wash.

After we put Floyd down me, my wife and my other dog Opie
have been pretty depressed.  My wife and I were out having
lunch one day and she wanted to look at puppies at the pet
store across the street.

I had absolutely no intention of any kind of purchase, until we
met........

Bea.

Ok...I'm a sucker for a cute face, but I'm not ready for a new
addition myself, so I brought Opie in to have a look......Damnit!!!!
 He loved her.

So off we went with Bea, who BTW is a Schnoodle, cute as hell
and with a personality too boot.
Ellie Update

Due to unforeseen problems, we
had to give Ellie back to the
rescue shelter.

It was heartbreaking, but she
needs a home where she is her
own dog.

We'll miss you Ellie.
Alrighty then..........Yesterday ( Sunday) was just a normal day, chillin around
the house and stuff.  My wife and I, well me actually are in the middle of
making a nice Sunday dinner, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, etc.......when the
phone rings about 6:00.

Yep, it's Traci, she's at the hospital (remember, they were gonna induce
Monday morning at 6:00 AM)  Seems her and her husband decided to go out
for dinner, they are in the middle of a very nice and expensive meal
when........Whammo!!  We beat feet over to the hospital.  This is what we
find.......
It's now about 7:00 PM and EVERYBODY starts coming in.....His Mom and Dad,
Brother and his Wife and Daughter, Traci's Mom and her boyfriend , a couple
of Traci's friends, Traci's sister (No, not Weasel Spawn....She's back in New
Orleans.) A couple of Hubby's Aunts and me and my wife......Freekin zoo

So we're all hanging around in her room, when the nurse finally has had
enough of us and makes us go to the waiting room.........and we wait.....and
wait..........and wait.

Finally at 11:00 PM we get a call from Kelly (Traci's Husband.) She's moving
forward, contractions about a minute and a half apart.........and we
wait.........and wait and wait.

At 11:45 we get another call.....She's pushing!   At 11:50  another call.......She's
here!!!!
3 pushes and she delivers a 6 lb 14 oz  19" long baby girl !!!!
And we wait......and wait.........and wait.   It's 2 AM and they finally let us into
Traci's room.......but no baby............she's in the nursery and it will be another
hour or two before I get to meet my Grand Daughter
Damn! am I stoked!!  She's perfect!!  I got up a 6:30, showered and soon
to be off to the hospital.  3 hours sleep, but well worth the wait!
BTW.........Mom and Baby are doing fine.   I'm now officially...A GRANDPA!!
